Our love, bittersweet and pure, Destined to journey this way; Life-weathered, built to endure.
Bound still to each others allure, Passion unbridled when we lay; Our love, bittersweet and pure.
Beset by prospects unsure, Keeping the wolves at bay; Life-weathered, built to endure.
Our feelings, true and sure, Without even the need to say; Our love, bittersweet and pure.
Brawling fate to be secure, Our poorly dealt hand we play; Life-weathered, built to endure.
Such treacherous ills without cure, Still together, loyal we stay; Our love, bittersweet and pure, Life-weathered, built to endure.

This reminds me of the poem Raven, but you have put such a light and sensual context into this it makes it almost the complete opposite, brilliantly penned Arthur, I appreciate the depth and sentiment in your words!

You really have mastered this Form, Arthur. I always find my attempts coming out sing-songy, but there's none of that here. A piece of beauty. *exalt*

A villanelle certainly help to get the point across. Very well executed technically, Arthur, and the stanzas certainly reinforce the title strongly.

The brilliance of the form aside this was breathtaking. It is hard enough tow write villanelle ... I applaud your talent here ARTHUR ... fantastic sentiment and honesty together with fine style as always K x

What a fabulous poem you have constructed here. I enjoyed this villanelle that has been honed to perfection.
Just lovely,

The rigid villanelle structure often makes those pesky repeated lines seem redundant - but you've overcome that, Arthur. Each stanza here builds on the story and is intrinsic within your emotional poem. Bravo!! H x
