I like that you've time-placed this in ancient Rome and used poetic license throughout, like: "The brave gladiators Metaphorious and Allegorio". An enthralling write! Somewhat unjustly, your phrasing leaves no room for corrections and re-writes, which I'm sure it doesn't need except in Caesers eyes. It brought to mind what we now know as clichés : "Pride goeth before a fall" and also "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Very good job with this one. A topical subject for us and well-executed *pardon the pun. H x

I think here you are decrying the way that soldiers are often celebrated as heroes at the beginning of a campaign but because of politics, public opinion is massaged and the same soldiers are condemned or treated as ignominious; the chivalric poetry of their heroic efforts is arbitrarily dismissed or denounced. But many years later, as in the case of the Vietnam veterans, they are again celebrated, even though politics still condemns the war where they made their sacrifices.
You make a very good point, Mike.
EXALT.

Wow..I think this is such a clever write! I love reading unexpected original ideas. I love what you did...combining the style of writing and ideas of Cesear...I know I am not explaining this as well I want but I get it and I think it is incredible that you thought this up. It works! Very nice.

This was really good Ex, the buildup, the change of mind, the withdrawing and falter. The language was well done too. I also like the ancient Rome setting in the Coliseum with the spectators viewing. Quite exciting and very strong. I will exalt you after I pay another I owe.
