Penitent willows genuflect in obeisance To the wind that blows To freeze the dreams off popsicle trees Intent on full immersion, That wind blows a sub-zero spectacle.
Cold that wind blows, peeling bark A shivering grip to force concession Rending leaves to dust
Subtle snows follow Plant gossamer white among the ruins A crystal permanence
An illusion
That wind will have its way for weeks Months
'Til spring's snout roots among the ruins: Seedlings root and rise amid the willows Warmth engenders comfort Security Hope
An illusion
Somewhere, That wind blows still.

I found the imagery here just stunning, Jamie. Words such as "popsicle trees," "gossamer white," and "crystal permanence" all had such a vivid effect, creating this lush landscape in which the narrative was able to deploy. Being as this is in unplugged, rather than nature, logic dictates a definite portrayal of the illusory permanence of life. Nobody is ever truly settled. There are always ups and downs, or simply changes. That notion is, to me, as beautiful as the words you've penned here. Fantastic!

Jamie although I've always loved your work this has stunned even me into silence! Why have I not seen this before? The imagery gave me chills, so vivid, so hauntingly beautiful, not only did you create atmosphere and charm with this piece but also something else that I just can't describe ~ bookmarked and exalted, sheer poetic brilliance in my opinion, this will stay with me for a long time and the best piece of poetry I've read in a very long time. Kerry xxxxx EXALT
