They can commit heinous crimes And still get elected If we gobble up their lies Then we’re not protected Do you wonder when we’ll see Justice resurrected? They could pardon a felon With the stroke of a pen Hoist the rebel flag yellin’ " THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN" No time for though or dwellin’ The war needs more young men I am a third their age But with twice the maturity Reason enough for rage Amidst this false security Pray for a better day When your old ways are washed AWAY WHY can a teen take a shot of lead but not of rum? You’re permitted to die, but prohibited from fun There’s a TEEN in Iraq saying “ That bullet just missed me, I could sure use a brew or a shooter of Jimmy” It’s a stupid flaw It’s a stupid law No freedom, no justice for all It’s a stupid law It’s bound to fallAnd if you like it Then so will you ...I wrote this a year ago, hence the image

unless I'm wrong.. I am under the impression it is legal to drink if you are in the military (at least on base) regardless of your age..
however, when they come home on leave they still have to follow the official "21" law..
Once more Max, you have shown passion in your poetry with a cause. I've become a big fan of yours in a short time.
Tc my friend,

Well I think that says it all Max, you demonstrate your political views brilliantly, I mean 21 I think is steep and it forces the youth of America to turn to the streets to drink which then can cause confrontations which they may not face in clubs or bars. I'm not saying it never happens in them but they are more controlled than streets. Another good point my friend well penned yet again. I love these right I truly do!
George Bush can rot in the pits of hell hanging from his puppet strings in my view, him and his corupt foundation of followers. IMO

Daniel, you're correct my friend. I was simply commenting on how foolish the "21" rule is... in my extremely non-biased and neutral opinion Thank you kindly Daniel for the gracious comment. Jay- I completely agree with you-- both on the 21 issue AND, more importantly, on what George Bush deserves. Thank you for the kind words as well... now I'm off to use my George Bush toilet paper.

There are so many areas where "age" seems such a ridiculous restriction when what we really need is a "judgement" restriction . . . we waste a great deal of time on unenforcable laws and misguided sentiment. Too easy to say "no" than to render a nuanced system, I fear. I really can empathize with this write, though I'm easily old enough to not have to care, because I loathe generalities, and an age limit stinks of them.
