I’ve traveled this great land far and wide
Seen many a place that has caught my eye
There’s only one place that I call my home port
Friends, there is no city on Earth like New York
I'm educated in the heart of rural Pennsylvania
Never been out here? Can’t say I blame ya
Don’t get me wrong, Penn State is a place I adore
But I’m a city boy at heart, and I miss New York
Philadelphia can boast that old cracked bell
Better than New York? Now that’s a hard sell
Visiting a city to see a broken antique is fine sport
But that doesn’t change a thing, it’s not New York
I’ve got family down in the Lone Star State
Too much “the South will rise again” like it’s 1868
Well I remember the Alamo, and the taste of salted pork
But I’m a concrete cowboy, and my pasture is New York
This past July I headed west to the fabled windy city
The gothic architecture there was something pretty
Yet into the East, all the while my pumping heart did soar
Chicago is a mighty fine place, but damn it ain’t New York
I’ve seen this nation’s colors from the inside
Only one place knows me best, ‘til the day I die
I’ve been with her through good times and tragic ones
I saw the smoking twin atrocities that cannot be undone
I solemnly swear to love and protect her forever more
The Big Apple, the Empire State, Lady Liberty, all of the things I adore
Can only be found in my city of birth and salvation, my blessed New York
I love everything about her
Both the good and the bad
The Hudson is my mother
And Manhattan is my dad
The residents are my family
Humanity exposed at our hands
I’ll trade I-80 for the subway
And steel giants to light up the stars
I will be returning some day
To the city which holds my heart
Seen many a place that has caught my eye
