Moonlight
Intermezzo Venus the night herald Calls to the showgirls One by one ~ The evening star Conducting the chorus line Galaxy dancing To Pembury Hill ~ Shy Selena Lifting her petticoats Hints at her coming With ribbons of silverlight ~ Walk with me lover Where petals of roses Sighs of gardenias Will comfort your hair ~ Defeated poets By monochrome beauty Struggle with bland words And lay down their pens ~ Perhaps on the night wind To the notes of a nocturne Selena and Chopin Smile on the world Bit of a challenge this piece; to write on moonlight and avoid the clichés, but I thought Id give it a go. I will guess that most will know that Selena is the Greek Moon Goddess, but just in case. [/center]

This is beautiful Cari! I did know about the goddess and yet i still didn't catch the relationship until the end...rather embarrassing on my part. The imagery is so magical and entrancing! You are becoming one of my favorite poets I must admit! Never will I gaze upon the moon in the same way again! ~Sarah

Talk about synchronicity--I happen to have Chopin on the playlist right now and just heard it a minute ago. (I mix it up) I played it back while reading this over again and there's a delicacy to the connection, and a serenity to the words that pleases immensely. Fantastic work, Cari. *exalt*
