Untrained eyes scan the scene Horror filling their gaze Yellow barrier screaming evil's presence Flashing lights, sirens wail Only telling one story Four years of my life I'll use to learn How to discern the other side
Toppled chair, scattered books Distinct is the smell of perfume Among the sorrow and rage in the air A small voice longs to be heard (What happened sweety, who did this to you?) Leave no stone unturned, no shadow unlit
Shard of glass within golden locks Stains upon her nails (You fought hard baby, now let me fight for you) Two glasses of crystal, taken care to set Windows intact, door standing firm (You trusted them didn't you honey?)
So much blood coating her form Eyes wide open, no time to gain peace (Who deemed you worthy of this suffering?) Shoe print left on pristine hardwood floor Fingerprint left unknown on your cheek
A whisper still lingers, heavy in the room "Please, let me go home" (Don't worry sweetheart, I'll be your voice) My job to set you free.

Sarah this was a very distressing read, I'm still not sure after reading it twice that I understand what it is all about, whether it is true or fiction ... whether in pm or here I would love you to explain this to me ... it was like being there, living it ... but no knowing what it actually was ... K xxxx hugs

I too feel there was a hint of personal experience to this piece, though I hope I am wrong. Nonetheless, you do a steller job here of giving a voice to those who have none, which is something that I admire and applaud you for, Sarah. It is through people like you and I that those who are unspoken for will be spoken for. You do a great justice here through your rich pen, your heart really shines in this piece.

I wrote this from the perspective of a crime scene investigator, which i am going to school to one day become. Though this doesn't hold any hint of personal experience as of yet i have unfortunately been on one crime scene with a friend who is a member of a rescue team. She was struck by a motorcycle and i will never forget the things that i saw. I will one day be able to give a voice to those who can no longer speak and i wanted to show how determined i am to do that.

You already "talk the talk", Sarah. Friends in this field always think as if the victim is listening, determined to show that some one will speak for them: tell their final story. You set the scene in fine style. Best luck with your endeavours: remember to not carry these images home. H x
