A joy to teach you all the little things, And to hold your tiny hand when we walk; Such delight our favourite jigsaw brings, We giggle when you copy how I talk. You teach me of laughter and how to play, You bring me your broken toys to repair; Such pleasure to hear your sweet songs all day, Your favourite sweets, together, we share. Now rest your weary head on me, to sleep, I’ll carry your dreams up the wooden hill; At sunrise, upon my slumber, you’ll leap, Though robbed of mine, I will love you still. And all I ever want in return my lad, Is to hear you whisper “…I love you Dad”

Love it! Love it! Love it! More men in this world should be like you. If they were, there would be less kids acting out and less divided families, imo. Your little man is truly blessed to have you in his life. Cookies for this one for sure! Hugs~~~ Stacy

A great paternal message and good rhyming form in this sonnet, Arthur. It's divine to know a child's love: the purest of all. It's a shame they then have to grow and mix with other children, whom you wouldn't spawn if earth's survival depended upon it. Enjoy your little lad. H x

Arthur I was most moved by this, oh how I remember the joys of watching my two grow up. seeing them develop, having them fall asleep in my arms. Even now i get so much pleasure as i see them taking wise decisions and occasionaly (very) asking me for advice, It is truly an honour to have the opportunity to guide young people as best we can to adult hood. You captured all this and more in your superb sonnet. Exalt

what a treasure this is, I hope you have this framed and when your little man is bigger he can take this too school and show his teachers how poetry should be written.
The emotions in this are very much overwhelming.. I loved it very much.
