Dodging bullets with frivolity Dulling blades with forced ignorance Within a war zone of fettered tongues Straining against their bonds Sitting in no man's land Nothing lost, nothing gained Allies charging, opposition retreating Battered, bloody, and bruised What caused such a change? Walking on glass as it shatters Reflecting what once was Directing a concerto with TNT Dancing with a train Personifying perfection, chameleon smile A pariah in my own skin This isn't me, who is this? The ease of conversation gone Awkward niceties take it's place Did definition change? Perhaps my reflection twisted in your eyes White flag raised, for I sense the tide has turned Times change, as do we But in my eyes you never will I just wonder how long Can one tap dance on a land mine And come away unscathed?

Riveting imagery here, Sarah. Portents of an unfortunate flirtation, a reunion with a past love who doesn't still harbor those feelings that keep burning in your heart. Great writing!

Imagery is very strong throughout the write. I shivered at this one, Sarah. Living so dangerously defines some relationships that may, ultimately, self-destruct with your "boom". Happily, they're not all destined for that fate and a mutual truce grows back to realism and acceptance, becoming long-term. No one should need to change until don't recognise themselves and, if this other person doesn't like whom they perceive, they need spectacles and a heart! H x

Sarah this was written so well. It is poignant, heartfelt and troubled. You are such a beautiful girl, yet you seem to struggle so, this shows through your writing and my heart goes out to you. Your talent for sharing feelings and describing pain as well as love and caring is phenomenal, take care, as always this really stood out to me, your poetry always does. Kerry xxxx exalt
