Listening – and “Hearing”!
In conversation, do we always actively listen? Do we truly "hear" a loved one or close friend? When relating their experiences with excitement, the words don’t necessarily inspire enlightenment.
Language has inner patois for us to perceive. Delivery does not guarantee that we’ll receive. When our mind focuses on an intricate thing, too often, we detect sound, without hearing.
A child’s voice is most deserving of attention, especially when relating a latest apprehension, speaking of new love, a heartbreak or despair. These are not unnecessary words to fill the air.
Equally, an elder may impart words of wisdom or a loved one, speaking with a forked tongue. If we attend without focus, offering half an ear, regardless of the need, we can’t possibly "hear".
If we listen attentively, the tales they impart, might come from the veracity of their heart. Impassioned, or composed, they will bestow insecurity, ethos or wisdom we need to know. ~~~~~~ Copyright ©

Boy, don't I know that's the truth! Some people have a knack for picking out one word out of a sentence and focusing on it . . . But the more important truth here comes at the end: I'm at the age now where I realize the older I get, the smarter my parents get and the dumber I become. Would that we learned to listen younger . . . Fantastic poem, harklight. Really spoke to me today.

Real wisdom here my friend. I have done this myself then felt so guilty afterwards. My concentration is so poor, I have to really prick up my ears and make myself concentrate. This poem bring home how important it is to listen, your wise words speak to people and MAKE them listen, great piece of writing. Hugs my guru ;D K xx
