*Philosophy of Anger*
Today, it is a swirling anger the bellows in me
And with eyes of rage and vengeance that I see
I have a list of names for which I hold no sympathy
The most offending souls, who ought to hide silently
Let’s start with the obvious: racists, anti-Semites, and the like
They all bark so loud, but they rarely ever bite
Because they don’t have the balls nor the spine
To fight against the wind, and also against time
To prey upon racial stereotypes is a detestable arrogance
Failing to take into consideration history and circumstance
When you generalize another, simply on skin or their pendant
You fail to even give humanity a chance
And yours is a wicked dance
Before the subject runs stale, let’s focus on religious fanatics
What makes them any different than a heroine addict?
NOTHING, if you are asking me
Both can be vices, both can alter what you seek
You see, I am humble in that I doubt
I do not know the answers and what life is about
But to claim absolute truth is to have your head in the clouds
You hold no supernatural power that I am without
…Because we are just mere mortals
And now my debate turns towards morality
Specifically, one that concerns the right to mortality
There is a certain kind of philosophy that slips by me
And that is how someone can claim to be pro-life
Yet they support the death penalty
The logic behind that is illogical, when it’s laid out naked
Because you would take NO LIFE if you thought life was so sacred
Now let’s turn our attention to the so-called war on drugs
Started by Ronald Reagan and his conservative thugs
Their logic is the kind that deserves to be swept under the rug
And their war is one that deserves a grave to be dug
I don’t take narcotics of any kind
But recently the thought has been crossing my mind
In reality, a joint is just as bad or good for you as a glass of wine
It’s today’s prohibition, but trust me, it’s on borrowed time
Because if this truly is the land of the free
Then why should you care what I put in me?
Maybe I’m ahead of the times, and it’s into the future that I see
But what I do know is that D.A.R.E. and the like distort reality
The above are just a few of the subjects on which I’d like to touch
I could go on and on about equality, gay rights and such
And how knowledge is raped when schools ignore evolution
Clinging to their ancient doctrines and preaching false solutions
Well I wish I had more paper, and I wish I had more patience
To create a more complete list of my philosophy
But I hope you enjoyed this piece with me
Be safe, be well, and at all costs, be free
