With haste, I awaken from my dormancy To grant this clouded sky some clarity To open your narrow eyes so that you may see The demons that are raping you and me They are those who would justify genocide So long as they have large rocks on their rings With a wave and a smile they say “we’re on your side” When in truth they are oil sultans and plastic kings I say smash the doomsday clock early, they are out of time Let’s help these fallen angels earn their charred wings
Freedom is just a word
Kill or be killed, it’s the way of the Earth Always has been, since the dawn of human birth While continents starve, the fat cats increase in girth 21st century Lords who commandeer subservient serfs Capitalism runs rampant and unchecked You and I just get scraps from the table But it’s not too late for reason just yet This country is certainly capable To climb to the top of this mountain of debt And see the American Dream as a Hollywood Fable
It kills to be naive
Never will I shut my mouth Until everyone has health care Never will I stop searching Until transparencies are laid bare Freedom for few means nothing Without true equality If this country f---s itself Won't you follow me In exodus?

Well in my younger years I was slightly to the left of Che Guevara and havn’t changed much, maybe mellowed a touch over the years.Capitalism rests on the vast underbelly of the working classes, without their exploitation it couldn’t exist. In short its appeal is to the greed that’s lies in most of us, a ladder to the top with the first five rungs missing.
Keep in there pitching friend.

This write says a lot Max, more than at first glance. Good rhyme and thought flow keep it rolling along. Last stanza could protest more for the starving, homeless, desperate, etc but overall, you took me there, especially in first two stanzas and italicised lines. Keep shouting, my friend. H x

Excellent Max, words of a deeply movinf poet who believes in a revolution to make the changes in todays societies for the better, if we can see such wrongs what are the powers that be seeing? Only the colour of money, shameless they are tempted by the fruit of eden for the fate of the working class heroes. Brilliant Max many would follow you my brother me and mine too.
