We need a day to celebrate, Within this vaunted nation, Our universal tendency Toward procrastination-- 'Fore it's our ruination.
A day where waiting culminates As statues turn to action, When couch potatoes animate, Bringing a satisfaction To yesterday's distractions.
Old promises spring surprise fruit Renewing friendships withered Give life to forgotten pursuits Make routines reconsidered: Humanity, Delivered
Please watch your mail for upcoming Events and Registration We'll be sending invitations To festive celebrations! Our Day of Procrastination.
(Someone will get around to it.)

Wonderfully written, Jamie, and too true of our pathetic societal apathy. Delay for long enough and everyone will forget that we all thought it important, someone else will do it or it can wait. Irony and subtle humor make the write entertaining and also, poignant. The stanza in italics is worth re-reading and pondering. H x

Sensational write, Jamie. If this is what your well-rounded pen has to offer for socio-politico, I look forward to more like this in the future. There is a pleasant rhyme to this in addition to true words flowing from your pen. In honor of this poem, I will be less of a couch potato... but I'll get around to that.
